Property Description

Generally agreed to be the most beautiful in the Algarve and in one of Portugal's important conservation areas taking in the West coasts of the Algarve, the Alentejo and Cape St. Vincent.

Situated in the Costa Vicentina Nature Reserve, the hillsides are richly endowed with wild flowers, birds and rare butterflies and provide a wealth of walks through eucalyptus, fig and almond groves.

Designed by former Spanish amateur champion Pepe Gancedo, architect of the well-known Torrequebrada course near Malaga in Spain, the golf course was carved out of the hills and many of the natural contours have been retained. Unlike most courses, Parque da Floresta has an infinite variety of holes, each one with individual character A combination of finesse and long precise shots is essential to score well. The owners, who acquired the complex at the end of 1993, have embarked on a programme of continuous course improvement. Several fairways which formerly had side slopes have been leveled out and attractively landscaped. 

Parque da Floresta's hard and clay courts - two of which are floodlit - will keep the tennis enthusiasts happy. Lessons are available from the LTA Professional coach and all levels of players are welcome to book a court. Tennis rackets are available for hire and regular competitions are held. Bookings are taken at the Resort Reception.

Archery (a sixty metre, ten target range for beginners and experienced archers), mountain bike hire and horse riding are all available at Parque da Floresta.

You can enjoy a game of bowls on the carpet-surfaced greens which are open daily from 10.00 a.m. Both experienced and novice bowlers are welcome - wood hire and tuition are available and competitions are held weekly.

There is an excellent Golf Academy and driving range, where professional lessons are available.

Near the golf clubhouse there is a fully-equipped health and fitness spa and a choice of swimming pools: a rock pool with waterfall, children's pool with 'sandy beach' and a heated indoor pool. The Spa is open daily from 8.30 a.m. to 8.00 p.m.

Squash is available in Burgau, as are guided bird-watching tours.

Water sports, sailing, diving and deep sea-fishing are all found locally.

Local Amenities

For shopping and groceries there are mini-markets in the nearby villages of Salema and Budens where there is also an EcoMarche supermarket (open Sundays) and petrol station (24 hours). Local pottery shops and a number of open air markets sell hand-woven table cloths and handmade sweaters. In Loulé a market is held every Saturday, at Portimão on the first Monday of each month and in Lagos every Saturday

More sophisticated shops can be found in Lagos and Portimão. On the perimeter of Lagos you will find three large supermarkets - Intermarche, Modelo and the Pingo Doce. In the centre of Lagos is the Cultural Centre hosting exhibitions of art and a regular programme of musical and theatrical presentations.

There are many excellent restaurants within 15 minutes drive. The sea food should not be missed! Several restaurants charcoal-grill the freshly caught fare and the local prices reflect that the area is still unspoiled.

Inside the Property

The main living accommodation is on the upper level where the drawing room, with a log burning stove and panel heaters, and the dining room have large french windows opening out onto a large terrace with breathtaking views of the 11th, 16th and 17th holes and the coastline. All  the bedrooms face south with French windows on to the terraces and the swimming pool. The fully equipped kitchen with fridge freezer, dish washer and microwave has it's own breakfast area. A utility room houses the washing machine and separate double sink unit. From the hall a wide staircase descends to the master bedroom with a king size bed and an en-suite bathroom. The twin-bedded rooms (bedroom two has a double bed and a single bed) share a fully equipped and spacious bathroom. All bedrooms and bathrooms have turbo fan heaters. Cots and high chair available. Also leading off the spacious hallway( where you will find the telephone and information handbook) are the study/4th bedroom containing a satellite TV, DVD and CD player with a panel wall heater and a separate shower/cloakroom. Casa Oleiro has a small library of adult and children's books as well as toys and board games. The log burning stove in the drawing room and panel wall heaters make for a cosy base for winter lets. Maid service is provided two days a week for cleaning, washing up and bed making. Bed linen and towels are also provided (excluding beach and pool towels) and a welcome pack of food and wine.

Outside the Property

Casa Oleiro, standing in a delightful garden of one third of an acre with a saline heated swimming pool is approached by a sweeping driveway which gives seclusion without isolation. The swimming pool has a solar blanket cover to assist with the heating. There is a secure garage and parking. A covered barbeque and out door eating area make for a delightful stay.

Booking & Payment Info

PAYMENT: A deposit cheque/transfer for 50% of the total cost is required at the time of booking. The final balance is required 8 weeks before the arrival date.

A bond/security deposit  of £200 is also taken to cover telephone and any breakages.

Quotations for smaller parties, prices on request.

Bedlinen and towels (excluding beach and pool towels) are included.

Maid service (cleaning, bed-making, washing up) 2 days per week including weekly linen change.

Food and Wine welcome pack on arrival.

Golfers: 40% discount on Green Fees

There is a local manager who looks after the property and who can be contacted.
