Property Description

The Estate is a family business which prides itself not only on offering all contemporary comforts but also on creating an atmosphere of effortless hospitality. We are looking forward to ensuring a pleasant stay for you with our uncompromised standard of quality service all throughout the year.
The day may begin with a rich breakfast in the estate's traditional coffee house alongside the rising sun. Our guests can let loose in the shade under the trees reading a book or sampling traditional meze and raki in the Cretan tavern which we lovingly built or taking a bicycle into the river trail and the surrounding mountains making their way from the cave of the Holy Fire to the village of Tylissos with its rich archaeological findings and the unparalleled local hospitality. Upon returning to the estate, the invinting B.B.Q, the fully equipped fitness room, relaxing turkish baths and the pool are at their disposal.

We would recommend that you let the sunset catch up with you at your private veranda, while you allow yourself to be distracted by the sound of flowing water and the sight of nature, wild and blooming.

As for those days when you cannot avoid the use of a car, things could not be simpler: the most prominent destinations, such as the city of Heraklion, the airport, the harbour, Knossos, organized beaches and the tourist resorts of Ammoudara and Agia Pelagia are no more than 10 or 20 minutes away. After all, the highway that connects the biggest Cretian cities to each other lies but 5 kms from the estate.

Inside the Property

The Estate features 8 studios and 4 luxurious villas all of which were built around an imaginative combination of contemporary Cretan hospitality: uniqueness of character and luxury.
Each studio can accomodate 2 or 3 people with a fire place, a sitting room and a top-of-the-line kitchen. In the 3 bed studios, in addition to an extra bedroom, the master bedroom also comes in the form of a traditional, wooden cretan attic.
The luxurious villas are comprised of three levels: the first level hosts a playroom, an office, a jacuzzi and a bathroom, the second level hosts a sitting room, a fire place, a kitchen and a bathroom and on the third level the traditional Cretan attic hosts the master bedroom. The villas can accomodate 4 people.
All the studios and villas are fully furnished and operate on autonomous heat and private verandas, each with its own view.

Outside the Property

Situated 12 kms southwest of the city of Heraklion and barely 1 km outside the traditional Cretan village of Tylissos, motivated by imaginative zest and striving to maintain our respect towards its natural surroundings, we built Kares Estate, a four star, luxurious resort.

The estate spreads over 50 acres, far from urban noise and overly crowded tourist designations. It lies in the midst of thick greenery, overwhelmed by various kinds of trees including olive groves, orange groves, chestnut trees and vines all the while partaking in the rough, steep beauty of Goniano Canyon. The sea, just a stone's throw away, flavours the vertical cliffs, the enchanting view and the constant change of scenery with its salty breeze thus creating a pure and typical Cretian image.
The estate is easily accessible from the national highway. The small, serpentine trail that leads to the estate is 1 km long and it will bring you through vines and rich groves right to our doorstep.
