Although Indonesia is hot and humid throughout the year, the official we season runs from October to August and is marked by heavy, short rainstorms after which the air is fresher. Temperatures range from 21 to 33 degrees Celsius in the lowlands. Higher altitudes enjoy cooler conditions.
The currency for Indonesia is the Rupiah and the capital of Indonesia is Jakarta.
Indonesia is divided into 3 time zones. Western Indonesia Time (Sumatra, Java, West and Central Kalimatan) is 7 hours ahead of GMT, Central Indonesia Time (Bali, South and East Kalimatan, Sulawesi and Nusa Tenggara) is 8 hours ahead, and East Indonesia Time (Maluku and Irian Jaya) is 9 hours head.
