Property Description

Situated in the heart of the Luberon National Park and a short walk from the village of St Saturnin les Apt, Le Clos St Martin is a beautiful 18th century converted convent, which sleeps up to 12 people, has recently been refurbished to a high standard and is set in peaceful and mature gardens.

The origins of the house date back to at least the 13th Century, as the plot itself was an important Templar site. This reputedly accounts for the two magnificent 'Cedars of Lebanon' in the gardens, which are said to be the oldest and tallest in Provence.

The charming Provençal village of St Saturnin les Apt is just a 15 minute walk away, and it has 2 excellent boulangeries, a good general store and several wonderful restaurants and bars, whilst the regional market town of Apt is a 10 minute drive.

The house is well positioned to explore the area which is known for its many famous wines, notably the legendary Chateauneuf du Pape. It is located in the Luberon National Park and a 45 minutes drive from the Papal town of Avignon and 1 hour from historic Aix en Provence.

Inside the Property

Inside the property the furniture is a delightful collection of French and English antiques, chosen with great care by the owner.

On the Ground Floor there is an entrance hall, a sitting room with a fireplace, a small drawing room, a kitchen, a games room and a utility room.

On the First Floor, there is a Master double bedroom with a bathroom en suite, and a further 3 double bedrooms sharing 2 bathrooms.

On the Second Floor, there are 2 twin bedrooms and two bathrooms.

Outside the Property

The house has a large enclosed courtyard, a lovely lawned area and an enchanting orchard, filled with a diverse range of trees. There is a cherry harvest in early summer.

A traditional bassin and old fountain form an unusual and exquisite swimming adding a distinct regal air to the grounds.

There is a BBQ and plenty of room for parking.

Booking & Payment Info

A deposit is required on booking with the outstanding balance of the holiday required within 9 weeks of departure. The full amount is required if departure is within 9 weeks.

Maid service - 3 hours, 2 days a week including Saturday which is changeover day. Linen change on day of arrival, extra cost for second change, payable locally.

Pool Towels are provided.

A food hamper can be arranged at an additional cost, payable locally.

Tenancies commence at 16:00 hours on the day of arrival and the villa is to be vacated at 10:00 hours on the day of departure.
