Property Description

Situated in the pretty listed village of St Loup sur Thouet, Le Colombage is a 15th century half-timbered/cantilever medieval house which offers generous family accomodation and a central location for your holiday. 

Recently refurbished and fully centrally heated, this beautiful medieval town house is situated in a classically French, vibrant village (Boules on the green etc). The village has its own 14th centrury chateau and grounds, boulangerie, minimart, restaurants and bars (all within five minutes walk of the house). There are a number of historic monuments which include a beautiful church and the birth place of Theophane Venard a catholic priest who was canonised for his missionary work in Indo China.

The village itself whilst offering superb amenities has a wealth of medieval houses, small side streets, a river walk and beautiful countryside.

Inside the Property

Both bedrooms are light and airy, heavily beamed with rug covered wooden floors, antique armoirs, antique wooden beds dressed with crisp white "Egyptian cotton" sheets and quality bedding.

Master bedroom (23 sqm). Pride of place in this room is the antique carved double bed and matching double mirrored armoir, complete with an en-suite shower room and toilet.

Bedroom two (28 sqm). This lovely room has two beautiful antique wooden beds (130cm and 120cm), there is ample space in this room to make it into a family room where additional beds can be added upon request.

Kitchen / diner (34 sqm).  Fully equiped fitted kitchen with electric hob, oven, microwave, fridge, washing machine and dishwasher.  Dining table for six.

Salon (14 sqm). Situated on the ground floor in what used to be the village epicerie (Grocers), the lounge is a quiet comfortable area where "Le Colombage" visitors (adult and child alike) can retreat to in order to relax.  Traditionally furnished with exposed medieval wall.

The room has a television, DVD player, and CD player. A selection of DVDs, a number of games, and a selection of hard and paperback books are all available for you to use; all with the intention of helping to make your stay as relaxing as possible.  

Salle d'eau (Ground floor) comprising of a shower, wash basin and toilet.

Outside the Property

Accessed through the kitchen, there is a private walled garden which carries the same historic ambiance of the house.  Ideal for alfresco dining.

Comprising of; mature plants, a wooden-decked terrace area, sun loungers, dining table, parasol and six chairs. Your holiday dining and relaxation can be taken outside.  Charcoal BBQ is provided.

Booking & Payment Info

Payment: One third of the rental cost must be paid within 7 days after booking (sterling). The remaining balance must be settled in sterling at the latest 6 weeks before the date of arrival at the property.

If a booking is made within 6 weeks before the arrival date, full payment must be made in euros within 5 working days after booking.

A security deposit of £75 is also required to be paid at the time of final payment. Any incidental costs will be deducted at the end of the stay and the remaining deposit will be refunded. 

The rental cost is for four people, 7 nights accommodation, electricity, and the provision of a change of linen and towels for guests staying more than one week. 

There is no charge for the end of stay final clean as it is expected that guests will leave the accommodation in a similar state of cleanliness to which they find it.  Please note however, that the owners reserve the right to deduct from the security deposit additional cleaning costs (equivalent to the maid service) should the condition of "Le Colombage" be considered beyond acceptable.

Guest changeover during high season is Saturday.  This can be flexible for other times of the year.  Please email the owners for availability.
